As the lead designer for the Coca-Cola Freestyle and Vue Cinema partnership, I developed the full visual identity and customer-facing experience for Popcorn Pairing — a fun concept built around two custom drink flavours created to perfectly complement Vue’s sweet and salty popcorn. My role spanned interface design for Freestyle machines, in-cinema assets, and a full suite of digital and print marketing materials rolled out across multiple countries.

This project started with a playful idea:
What if going to the cinema came with a drink flavour crafted specifically for your popcorn?

Vue Cinema and Coca-Cola had collaborated on two unique pairings, and my job was to bring that idea to life in a way that felt exciting, intuitive, and unmistakably “cinema.”

The first challenge was ensuring the Coca-Cola Freestyle interface made the new flavours easy to find and even easier to choose. Freestyle machines already host hundreds of options, so the experience had to cut through the noise. I designed clear, inviting UI panels that highlighted the new flavours without overwhelming the existing system — a balance between functionality, brand consistency, and visual delight.

Once the machine experience was intuitive, I extended the world of Popcorn Pairing across cinema touchpoints:

Vibrant digital screens that teased the flavours

Print posters and standees for cinema lobbies

Promotional graphics used across Vue’s marketing channels

Each asset blended bold Coca-Cola style with Vue’s cinematic energy, creating a cohesive mini-brand that felt fun, modern, and irresistible to moviegoers.

The final campaign launched not only across the UK but also in Denmark, Italy, and Germany — turning a simple design challenge into a global showcase.
